In this authors, attempted to bridge ancient Indian medical knowledge with contemporary autopsy practices. The integration of historical perspectives from Vedic texts with modern pathological protocols provides a unique cultural and scientific framework that will benefit forensic practitioners, pathologists, and medical educators globally. The detailed colored plates, along with key points and make this work especially practical for training purposes in both allopathic and Ayurvedic medical education systems.
This book is all about the implications of pathology, including both gross and histopathological findings, in evaluating the cause and manner of death. Factors that hamper or consolidate the pathological findings were discussed in detail. How standalone histopathology is still holding its relevance, also thoroughly described. Common pathological patterns in all four organs, which are the Heart, Lung, Liver and Kidney were extensively discussed and enumerated with specific key notes and colored photographs of gross and histopathology. Technical aspects in pathological examination were described for picking up the loopholes and possible ways to rectify it. The broad division of the book can be considered in different segments like forensic medicine in ancient and modern India, followed by the role of pathology in autopsy, which can be further categorised into pathological examination in autopsy, which is a comprehensive depiction of the scope and limitation of histopathology in autopsy cases, which is strictly adhered to histopathology. “The need for the autopsy topic” diversifies the usage of the pathological findings. Pathological findings pertaining to the various causes and manners of death were also discussed. A discussion on specific pathological gross appearance and histopathological findings guide towards ascertaining the cause of death. An explanation was made, how these two pathological findings, which are gross and microscopic findings contribute to ascertaining the cause of mortality. Factors that cause the discrepancy between gross and microscopic examination were critically analysed which makes the essential part of the book. This book has targeted the pathology, MD residents, forensic medicine, MD residents and postgraduate students (MD) of the Department of Agad tantra evum Vidhi Vaidyak in the Ayurvedic stream for a lucid understanding of pathology and their patterns. This book is the handbook for the above-said residents. A panoramic view of forensic medicine in ancient India was enumerated, in chronological order. Important notes were given in the form of an essence of the book followed by important examination questions, from which students will definitely benefit in the examinations.
