Perinatology: A Comprehensive Guide for Students was developed to offer a coherent and evidence-based overview of the fundamental principles and clinical practices that define modern perinatal care. The book adopts a continuum-of-care approach, beginning with preconception counseling, maternal nutrition, lifestyle and psychosocial considerations, and preventive strategies such as vaccination. Early pregnancy evaluation, accurate gestational age assessment, and contemporary prenatal screening are presented with an emphasis on clinical reasoning. Special attention is given to high-risk pregnancy, including standardized classification, critical maternal conditions, and indications for intensive care management.

The neonatal component of this volume focuses on the physiological adaptation to extrauterine life and the development of essential clinical competencies. Core topics such as neonatal resuscitation, systematic clinical and paraclinical examination, respiratory support, and nutritional management are complemented by in-depth discussions of common and high-impact neonatal disorders, including hematologic, metabolic, neurologic conditions, and neonatal jaundice.

This book is designed primarily for medical students, but it also serves as a practical reference for residents and healthcare professionals seeking a concise yet thorough review of perinatology.

The authors hope that this guide will not only facilitate academic learning but also inspire a deeper appreciation for the complexity and responsibility inherent in perinatal medicine, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes for mothers, infants, and families.
