Environmental challenges increasingly demand reliable information about where changes occur, how they evolve and what they mean for natural resources and human well-being. Geographic information systems (GIS) and remote sensing offer complementary approaches to observing landscapes, analysing spatial patterns and supporting informed environmental decisions. This book brings together fundamental concepts and contemporary methods in geospatial analysis. Its chapters explore spatial autocorrelation, spatial heterogeneity and scale effects; geostatistics and interpolation; GIS-based multi-criteria decision analysis; spatiotemporal analysis and dynamic modelling; and land use and land cover change. Further chapters examine the integration of remote sensing with GIS and the growing roles of geospatial big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Throughout, emphasis is placed on methodological choices, data quality, uncertainty, model validation and the responsible interpretation of results. By connecting statistical foundations with practical applications in environmental monitoring, spatial planning and resource management, the volume aims to support sound, transparent and evidence-informed analysis. We hope this book will serve as a useful reference for students, researchers, educators and practitioners seeking to understand and apply geospatial approaches to complex environmental and natural resource challenges.
