He serves as an associate professor in the Department of Plant Physiology at the Faculty of Biology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland. His research focuses primarily on seed biology, with an emphasis on lupin seed biology. He has been involved in projects examining the regulation of storage lipid and protein accumulation during lupin seed development and the breakdown of these storage compounds during seed germination. Currently, his research focuses on the regulation of autophagy in plants. Using transcriptomic and proteomic approaches, he investigates the course of autophagy and the regulatory role of asparagine during sugar-starvation-induced autophagy in cells of germinating lupin seeds. In his work with students, he also addresses issues related to the use of genetically modified plants (GMOs) in modern agriculture and industry. For example, he discusses the benefits and risks of genetically modified crops, which are increasingly used in global agriculture.
