Abstract
Recently, a new generation of photovoltaic solar cell materials has been developed. Featuring special characteristics such as a high absorption coefficient, an ideal band gap, high defect tolerance, and a long carrier diffusion length. These advancements have led to experimental improvements in the performance of both organic and inorganic hybrid lead/tin halide perovskite solar cells. However, to complete the photovoltaic process, suitable electrodes and transport materials are essential. This is due to the phenomena of charge carrier separation, transportation, and charge collection at the interfaces between layers. As a result, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) has improved from 3.9% to 33.6%. This book chapter focuses on the progress made in enhancing hybrid perovskite solar devices, emphasising the role of charge generation through the photovoltaic effect and the stability of charge using conjugated polymers.
