<p>The mungbean commodity is increasingly attracting the attention of many parties because this commodity is important as a relatively cheap food source of vegetable protein, as well as an export commodity. The development of the mungbean-based food (food and beverage) industry is currently quite advanced. It is not surprising that the prospects for developing mungbeans in Indonesia are quite large. From the aspect of material availability (seeds or mungbean grains), the productivity and production of mungbeans need to continue to be increased through the application of cultivation technology and the development of planting areas.</p> <p>The title of this book is considered very appropriate and relevant to be used at this time to provide understanding to the public about the importance of developing mungbeans in the future. <p>The mungbean is increasingly getting attention from stakeholders because this commodity is a relatively cheap source of food of vegetable protein as well as an export potential commodity. Besides a vegetable protein which is relatively cheap, mungbean is also an important source of vitamins and minerals beneficial for human health. Mungbean can be used as a functional food as it provides several health benefits. The development of the mungbean-based food (food and beverage) industry is now advanced. Most of the farmers in the country are well acquainted with mungbean farming. Mungbean can be grown on a wide agroecosystems with minimum inputs, and the grain/seed market is relatively good and stable. It is not surprising that the prospect of the mungbean crop in Indonesia is quite large. From the point of view of material availability (seeds and mungbean grains), efforts to increase productivity and production of mungbean need to be continued through the application of suitable cultivation technology and the development of planting areas. Strengthening collaboration among the government institutions and industry players is very crucial. Through this synergy, in-depth research can be conducted on varieties development that aligns with consumer preferences of different regions and the intended utilisation of mungbean production. Extension programs and farmer support, easy access to superior seeds, and capital assistance become essential in optimising production.
