Abstract

Pharmaceutical jurisprudence is an essential discipline that connects pharmacy practice with legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks to safeguard public health. This textbook, written in alignment with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) regulations, is designed primarily for Pharm. D (3rd year) and B. Pharm students. It provides a comprehensive, student-friendly account of key legislations, including the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Pharmacy Act, Medicinal and Toilet Preparations Act, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Patents and Designs Act, and Drug Price Control Order (DPCO). It also covers professional ethics, prescription and non-prescription products, and relevant policies shaping pharmaceutical practice in India. The book fills a critical gap by consolidating all twelve units of the syllabus into one resource with simplified explanations, updated references, and practical insights. It is equally useful for teachers, practitioners, and industry professionals seeking to understand the interplay of law, ethics, and pharmacy.
