Prof. Rusu Teodor
Professor Teodor Rusu is an academic and researcher at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he has pursued a teaching and research career spanning more than three decades. An agronomist with a PhD in Agronomy, he specializes in soil tillage, herbology, sustainable land management, soil and water resource conservation, and the assessment of agroecosystem sustainability. His research has focused particularly on conservation and regenerative agriculture, including minimum-tillage and no-tillage systems adapted to Romanian pedoclimatic conditions. His long-term studies have demonstrated that these practices can reduce fuel consumption and production costs, limit soil erosion, improve water retention and soil organic matter, and strengthen the resilience of farming systems to climate change. He has also contributed to the development of sustainability assessment models and digital decision-support tools for soil management. Professor Rusu has participated in 17 national and 11 international research projects, serving as a project director, institutional coordinator, or team member. His international experience includes participation in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe initiatives, notably LANDMARK and TRAILS4SOIL, which aim to advance soil health and sustainable agricultural practices across Europe. He has published more than 630 scientific papers and over 50 books, teaching manuals, monographs, and book chapters. As a doctoral supervisor, he has guided 25 PhD theses to completion in the field of agronomy. He is also actively involved in scientific publishing and research evaluation. Professor Rusu serves as Executive President of the Romanian National Society of Soil Science and is a member of the International Union of Soil Sciences and the International Soil Tillage Research Organization.
